Meet the Founder: Renée Morin

The vision and dedication behind Thread of Hope trace back to Renée Morin, whose life story embodies resilience, compassion, and unwavering commitment to empowering young girls.

Biographical Highlights

Born: March 16, 1945, in Versailles, France.
Education: Pursued higher studies in law but had to pause in her third year in 1969 due to the tragic loss of her husband, the father of her son.
Professional Career:
- Began her career in the construction industry in 1970.
- By 2009, as a Regional Director of Operations for construction promotion in Marseille, she established her own consultancy firm, specializing in project management for banks and major national corporations.

A Connection to the Central African Republic

In 2006, Renée’s partner, Jean-Luc Muniglia, an engineer at the Grand Port of Rouen, was appointed Administrator for the Maintenance of Navigable Waterways in Bangui, Central African Republic, as a technical advisor. Together, Renée and Jean-Luc became deeply involved in supporting small orphanages in Bangui.

The Birth of Thread of Hope

In 2013, Renée and Jean-Luc founded the French association “Fil d’Espoir sur l’Oubangui” (Thread of Hope on the Oubangui). This initiative established the Thread of Hope Home, located in Ngaragba on the road to Ouango, which provides shelter, food, healthcare, and education to orphaned Central African girls.

Thanks to their efforts, some of the home’s beneficiaries have achieved remarkable milestones, becoming university students in Bangui, Lomé, and Marseille.

Continuing the Mission

In December 2016, Jean-Luc Muniglia passed away, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and action. Despite this loss, Renée has remained steadfast in her commitment to the cause, continuing their shared mission of transforming the lives of vulnerable girls in the Central African Republic.

Thread of Hope was established to provide a safe haven for teenage girls orphaned by the ongoing crises in the Central African Republic. We believe every child deserves access to education, healthcare, and the opportunity to envision a brighter future. Our focus on teenage girls addresses a critical gap in humanitarian programs that often prioritize younger children, leaving adolescents particularly vulnerable.
